Leading & Managing Virtual & Hybrid Teams

Virtual and hybrid teams present a unique set of challenges in the workplace. There are different types of teams working with this model, and it’s vital to understand and plan for the challenges that team members, managers and leaders will all be part of.

In this course we will review some common factors, challenges and opportunities that face virtual teams and some techniques, insights, and strategies for addressing those challenges and capitalizing on the opportunities.

Gaining the insights into establishing ground rules, communicating, and motivating people in this new way of working is a whole new area of development for everyone.

This course will build on your capabilities and identify tools and skills your own virtual, hybrid and remote teams.

Session elements can include:

  • Understanding the impact of virtual meetings – and why it matters.

  • Technology – the good, the bad and the ugly (where it works and where it does not – and why).

  • Creating the shared ground rules of practice and behaviours.

  • Mapping out for each virtual team you work with – there are multiple types of virtual teams and understanding what the meetings or teams are for is vital.

  • Techniques to share – how to gain input and engagement.

  • Checking for progress and involvement.

  • Next steps and review.

This topic can be tailored for leaders, managers, and teams themselves. A f2f forum is recommended if the numbers are greater than 10 people and can be offered in both an online and hybrid format. The sessions will be interactive and provide resources and templates for the participants.
